Charitable Contributions to
Spina Bifida Continue in 2004
Charitable contributions from snowmobilers in Iowa continued in 2004
as the ISSA completed its second decade of supporting the
Spina Bifida
Association of Iowa (SBAI), the state organization’s official charity.
ISSA Charity Chair Jane Jans announced at the 2004 ISSA Convention
at Okoboji in November that annual donations to the SBAI topped
$12,000, and convention weekend alone raised $1,186 through auctions
and other special raffles and donations.
Charity has always been an important ISSA tradition. Since 1984, club
members have raised more than $300,000 for various organizations. Of
that total, more than 88 percent has been donated to the SBAI.
Convention weekend, the SBAI along with the ISSA recognizes the top
individual and club fundraisers. In order to be considered for these
honors, participants must have their donations turned into Jans by March
25.
Donations are accepted year round, and clubs are encouraged to keep
track of all donations of money or time spent helping other charitable
organizations. These all add up on the ISSA's charity report at the
International Snowmobile Congress.
Jans also reminds clubs to watch their mail for the 2004-05 charity
surveys. Those which fill out the sheet be awarded one point toward the
ISSA's Club of the Year Award. If you have any questions or for more
information, contact Jans at (712) 262-3309 or
