The ISSA awarded nearly $4,000 in prizes to six lucky participants in its
2004-05 raffle, but the summer drawing--held during the organization’s
campout at Spook Cave and Campground near McGregor--also signaled
the end of this long-standing tradition.
In May, the ISSA Board of Directors voted to discontinue its 50-50 raffle
significant overhead. Barring a vote later to reinstate it, clubs will no
longer be able to raise funds through the sale of ISSA raffle tickets.
At the conclusion of the 2003-04 raffle, the board discussed at length the
extension speak for themselves. Only 4,000 tickets were sold for the
2004-05 raffle, a meager 10 percent of the 40,000 tickets printed and
distributed at the ISSA’s expense.
ISSA Raffle Committee Chair Jeff Felkey still thanked raffle participants
for their continued support of snowmobiling in Iowa and also
acknowledged last season’s raffle co-sponsors: Yacht Club Trailers,
Humboldt; Cedar Falls Sno Hawks; Green Acres Motel, Spooner, WI; and
Big Moose Resort, Cooke City, MT.
