organized snowmobiling community in Iowa. In 2007, ISSA members gave
generously and often to the Spina Bifida Association of Iowa, raising more
than $8,400 for the organization’s official charity from November of 2006
through October of 2007.
“We would like to thank everyone for all of your generous support to Spina
Bifida, and we want to remind everyone that the ISSA is the main financial
contributor to this special group,” said ISSA Charity Committee Co-Chairs
Angie Sprung and Kim Hermann at the 2007 ISSA Annual Convention in
Waterloo in November. “Keep of the good work and keep the donations
coming.”
The campaign for 2008 is already off to a great start with more than $5,400
in donations from snowmobilers collected convention weekend alone. Three
snowmobile clubs—the North Iowa Sno-Jammers of Region 3, the
Driftrunners of Region 5 and the Winnishiek Trail Twisters of Region 5—
each handed over checks equaling or exceeding $1,000. The balance was
raised through special drawings and raffles.
For 2007, the top fundraising snowmobile club in Iowa was the Lyon
County Sno-Lyons of Region 1, which turned over a generous portion of
their proceeds from their inaugural ice oval races in December of 2006 to
the Spina Bifida Association of Iowa. Both Sprung and Herman were on
hand to accept the donation during a special ceremony in February.
“It was fun to see the end result of a lot hard work on their part. In addition
to Spina Bifida, they made several donations to local charities as well,” they
recalled. “We were both truly amazed at the amount of work this club put
in to their event. Hats off to the Sno-Lyons. Dedication like that doesn’t
come along every day.”

The ISSA and the Spina Bifida Association of Iowa (SBAI) recognized the
Lyon County Sno-Lyons of Region 1 as the top fundraising club for 2007 at
the annual ISSA Awards Banquet in November. On hand for the ceremony
were Tim and Tricia Shultz and their son Matthew of the SBAI.
