Iowa to Host 2010 International
Snowmobile Congress at Coralville
The ISSA and its choice of Coralville, Iowa, have been selected by the
International Snowmobile Council to serve as the host of the 2010
International Snowmobile Congress (ISC), an annual gathering of the
organized snowmobiling community since 1969.
The announcement came at the conclusion of the 39th Annual ISC held
June 6-9 at the Sheraton Bloomington Hotel in the Twin Cities. The Iowa
proposal was selected over an application from the Michigan Snowmobile
Association to host Congress in Kalamazoo, Mich., in three years.
Iowa last hosted Congress in Cedar Rapids in 1995. The ISSA had been
working on its bid for 2010 since an exploratory committee was formed
in July of 2006. Many of those members are now charged with the task
of organizing the off-season event at the Marriott Coralville Hotel and
Conference Center in Region 12.
Past ISSA Presidents Terry Durby and Jerry Kramer have been appointed
co-chairs by the ISSA Board of Directors with Past ISSA President Dale
Vagts serving as the Master of Ceremonies. ISSA Charity Committee Co-
Chair Kim Herman has been appointed treasurer, and Iowa Snowmobiler
Editor Cameron Hanson will oversee media and public relations. ISSA
President Merv Hoermann will also serve on the committee.
Durby said the 2010 ISC Planning Committee is compiling a list of
volunteers to lend their help at this prestigious event for Iowa. If you’re
interested in offering your talents, please contact Durby at (641) 903-
9294 or Kramer at (515) 890-1099.
