ISSA Reinstates Raffle Program
with Enclosed Trailer Offering
In January, the ISSA Board of Directors voted unanimously to
reinstate the organization’s raffle program, this time offering a Grand
Raffle with one big-ticket item rather than a general raffle with several
smaller prizes.
The ISSA’s raffle program had been suspended for two years for a
variety of reasons, including poor club participation and the absence of a
raffle committee chair. In November, the ISSA’s gambling permit with the
Iowa Department of Inspection and Appeals was renewed for two more
years, and at the January board meeting, Region 3 Director Gary
McVicker felt it was time to take another stab at it.
McVicker also serves as the Promotions Chair and agreed to head the
Raffle Committee. His proposal called for the purchase of an enclosed 8.5-
foot-by-25-foot snowmobile trailer for roughly $6,000, financed mostly
by the $4,637.60 balance in the Raffle Account as well as proceeds from
ticket sales.
Only 1,000 tickets will be sold with the drawing slated for the
Awards Banquet Nov. 17 at the 2007 ISSA Convention in Waterloo.
Tickets cost $25 each or five for $100. Proceeds from the ticket sales will
benefit the ISSA’s General Account. For more information, contact
McVicker at (641) 456-3916.
