State Sen. Steve Kettering, R-Lake View, has introduced a bill in the Iowa
Legislature calling for the return of nearly $1 million in snowmobile
program reserves, according to ISSA Lobbyist Mike Heller.
Senate File 11 calls for the restoration of $950,000 in snowmobile
registration fees which were drained in May of 2002 and transferred to
Iowa's Medicaid program.
In the wake of the announcement of a budget surplus in September, the
ISSA Board of Directors approved a resolution calling for the
reimbursement. The refund has also been identified in the ISSA's
Legislative Bullet Points for 2007.
Iowa snowmobilers are being asked by the ISSA's Emergency Funding
and Legislation Committee to contact their individual legislators and urge
their support on all ISSA-supported bills.
