November for the ISSA Annual Convention
Chair, 2010 ISSA Convention Committee
This year’s convention, like many of our past state conventions, will have
some changes. First off, the location.
Region 1 snowmobile clubs will host the 37th annual event at
King’s Pointe
Resort along the shores of Storm Lake’s 3,200-acre natural lake. Blocked
through Oct. 20, there are 100 distinguished guest rooms and suites with
enough variety to suit your needs, including a number with lake views. All
rooms include free wireless and wired internet access.
A new attraction this year is the use of an indoor waterpark. There are
several slides available that offer unique thrills and experiences. Room rates
start at $99 and include free waterpark passes. There will be four
waterpark passes per day for the standard rooms (a $40 value) and six
waterpark passes per day for the suites ($60 value).
In keeping with the theme of being “family-oriented”, bring the family this
year and have fun. To make a reservation, contact the hotel at (866) 552-
5960. More details about King’s Pointe Resort can be found online at
www.
kingspointeresort.com.
To register for this year’s convention, fill out the form at right. Fees remain
the same as last year, and we are pleased to once again offer an early bird
rate for those members registering by Nov. 1.
Also at right, the agenda this year will be similar as in the past, starting
Friday evening with a “Fun Nite.” Saturday morning starts with the ISSA
General Membership meeting followed by a brunch.
Saturday afternoon sessions include the DNR Report by David Downing,
Groomer Paper Workshop by Kathleen Moench, Insurance Update by Dale
Vagts and a Legislation Update by lobbyists Mike Heller and Paula Feltner.
Others items can be added as well. Just let me know at (712) 260-4810.
Saturday evening starts with a social and the dinner, followed with the
Awards Banquet. Don’t forget the drawing for the ISSA Grand Raffle
trailer will be Saturday night as well. See the ad at left for more information.
Also on Saturday will be a special off-site activity as well as a “Show and
Shine” snowmobile show. More information on both of these events will
appear in the October issue of the Iowa Snowmobiler.
As it stands right now, the show will be  an outside display of snowmobiles
with classes for antique, vintage, and any other models to be voted on for
“People’s Choice Awards.” So if you happen to have a sled that is rare or a
sled you are proud of to show off, sign-up and bring in to display. For
more information, contact Shari Wollmuth at (712) 461-0540  or

iowasnowcat@yahoo.com
.
Also on display convention weekend will be “Snowmobile Iowa,” a popular
showcase with many clubs throughout Iowa. There will be six-foot tables
(no back-drop) available for the clubs to decorate as they see fit, to
promote what they do and to highlight what is available for trail riding in
their area. Plans are to have the attendees to vote on “People’s Choice”
Award to the club. Registration details appear on at right.
An Avalanche Awareness Seminar hosted by Colorado expert Mike Duffy is
also planned for convention weekend but is not included in convention
registration. To learn more, interested snowmobilers can contact Duffy by
phone at (970) 390-9433, by email at
duffyww1@aol.com or by mail at
Avalanche 1, P.O. Box 2298, Avon, CO 81620.
Our convention planning committee is working hard to make this a
memborable convention for everyone. Make plans to attend, and we hope
to see you in Storm Lake in November.
